Create steps from an instruction video

Your organization might already have instruction videos to assist your operator in assembling a module. Redefining the steps in those videos again in Baseboard might feel a bit like a chore so we're here to help: hand your video over to our AI and we generate the steps for you!

Go to a module where you want to add steps with the video as input. If there's no steps defined in the module, you'll can click the button Create steps from file or - when you already defined some steps - you can click the icon on the top-right of the steps overview.

In the dialog you'll see that audio and video with spoken instructions is supported so go ahead and pick a video file from your uploads. Next, you'll need to provide a few more details to improve the accuracy of the step detection. For videos, that's telling us which language is used for the spoken instructions. Now click on Extract Steps to start the process.

The process goes through a few stages to extract the steps. The longer the video is, the longer the process takes but at most this should be several minutes, typically it's done in under a minute. Next you'll see the proposed steps, along with a video fragment for that step.

As you can see, we're building instruction steps for frying an egg (in Dutch). We're pretty happy with the results so we assign a step type for each step and click on Create to add the step to the module. If you're not happy with a step, you can always edit it later in the module, or if it's unusable, you can simply click on Discard to remove it all together. You can process all the step suggestions this way.
