Attaching step outputs to step inputs

In order to build a correct manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), modules in Baseboard have to result in one or more articles that can be tested and stocked individually. That's wat we call Step Outputs. Step Outputs can be defined in any step. These Step Outputs can be used in the next module as a Step Input.

Click on the + button to create a new output, specifying the article and the quantity this step produces of that article. The article number should be known within your Baseboard environment. Once you have a Step Output defined, you can refer to it in another step's Step Inputs

Click on the + button and fill out the details

As you can see, you can use all the quantity of a Step Output in this Step Input or just a portion, since you might want to split the usage of this Step Output between multiple steps.

Dependencies between modules based on Step Input and Outputs are also shown in the Bill of Process as yellow lines (next to the blue lines, that still allow you to define the dependency manually). Hovering on the yellow line will show how much of which Step Output is used in the module.

MBOMs and step inputs/outputs

To create a correct MBOM, you need to define step input and output dependencies. Only dependencies shown in the BOP with a yellow line are used to create the MBOM.
